KNOCKED DOWN….. BUT NOT OUT
Stolen Time, written by Martina Collander and directed by Liam Meagher, will be live streaming TODAY!
Thursday 27th Aug at 9pm
It is with enormous disappointment that Waterford Youth Arts today announces that outdoor theatre event STOLEN TIME at Wyse Park is now cancelled, in light of recently revised public health restrictions. The outdoor theatre spectacle was to run for six nights of performance at Wyse Park, Johns Lane, Waterford as a ticketed event from Aug 25th – 29th. The six-night run was sold out.
‘It comes as a massive disappointment to all the young people involved, having worked together so hard over the last six weeks, to the crew, to audiences and to us as a production company’, commented Ollie Breslin of Waterford Youth Arts’. ‘But the safety of young people, crew, artists and audiences is paramount’.
‘We are knocked down, but we are not out’ said Ollie Breslin. ‘The show must go on, the cast has worked so incredibly hard, we want audiences to see what we have created’
In a herculean effort from all involved, like a phoenix from the flames, the production is now being reimagined for the theatre at Garter Lane Arts Centre where it will be live streamed over virtual platforms on Thursday 27th August at 9pm.
Stolen Time involves 23 young people from the city and environs in what was to be an outdoor theatre spectacle. Waterford Youth Arts and co-producers Garter Lane Arts Centre designed the show for Wyse Park with the full support of Waterford City and County Council.
It is understood that Waterford Youth Arts sought clarification from the Department of Culture, Heritage and Gaeltacht on revised public health advisory statements this week. The Department advised definitively that all outdoor events are subject to the new limits of 15 people.
Stolen Time goes out on Thursday Aug 27th at 9 pm. Further details from Waterford Youth Arts and Garter Lane Arts Centre in the coming days.
“This Summer ‘Waterford Youth Arts’ and ‘Garter Lane Arts Centre’ will be bringing you the first Youth Theatre show to happen in Ireland since the start of the pandemic – “Stolen Time”.
“See what happens when Imogen wanders into the woods where nobody goes because many years ago a child had a tragic accident there. What is it about these woods that makes them so strange and eerie and what is that sound that she follows? Will Imogen ever emerge again and does she even know what’s real or imaginary anymore….”
Stolen Time is a MAGICAL new play by Waterford playwright Martina Collender who brought you ‘One Hundred Thousand Breaths’ (2016) and ‘If The Lights Change’ (2017). She will be joined once again by director Liam Meagher and together they aim to create a super hat-trick of productions.
Join Imogen as she steps out of herself and into a world full of magic that is her last hope to find redemption.
